Let’s Talk About Physical Attraction
Young people nowadays are more acquainted with the media and media has given the youth a different view of love. More and more, people are mixing up physical attraction with love. False understanding of the difference between love and physical attraction will lead to the false belief that in order to develop an initiate appeal between a man and a woman, both sexes should be beautiful and sexually attractive. But this however is not true at all. Definition of beauty and attraction constantly change through the course of time to fit the social standards of society.
According to research, it has been proven that men attach attraction to a woman’s aesthetic appeal more than women do. Women on the other hand, put high-regards to prominence, monetary sources and goals. This doesn’t mean though that woman put no importance in a man’s personal appeal; it simply means that most women go beyond than just looks in order to feel physical attraction. The simple scientific point is that men and women may have different basis for their definition of attraction but all can be generally focused on the other person’s physical or mental aspects. The reason for this is because that physical attributes stimulate the “hypothalamus”, which is a part of the brain that motivates the production of different reactions from the body like increased heart rate, perspiration or sexual arousal.
What are then the signs of physical attraction? In young adults today, it is inevitable to experience these signs. But it is also important for teenagers to understand these signs so as not to plunge themselves into the dangers of too much physical attraction.
• VISUAL CONTACT: The power of eye contact never fails. Definitely not your typical glance – it’s when the eyes say more than what needs to be said. This is when two people’s eyes meet and the rest is counted as history.
• PREEN: This means to carefully groom one in order to catch the attention of the opposite sex. Attraction exists when two people quickly make an instant fix and get into each other’s space.
• FLIRTING: This is when two people play with the sexual tension that is building up between the two of them.
• PHYSICAL CONTACT: This is when the woman starts to place a playful touch on the man’s arm and such. This is her way of telling the opposite sex that “yes, I am interested.”
All these signs are typical when physical attraction exists between two people. But it should always be remembered that physical attraction is NOT love – instead, it is something that if given the right time might turn into LOVE.
